As the 2025 NCAA football season approaches, Ohio State's head coach Ryan Day has entrusted the starting QB role to redshirt freshman Julian Sayin for the season-opener against Texas. Day's reason to choose Sayin

Ryan Day emphasized that while both Julian Saying and Lincoln Kienholz demonstrated promise throughout the preseason, the latter's unwavering consistency and his ability to take care of the football set him apart.

Day noted that observations spanning from spring practice through six months of camp revealed significant growth and readiness in Sayin's game. In contract, Kienholz, though capable, did not display the same sustained level of execution.

Sayin's moment to lead the Buckeyes

Sayin's elevation to QB1 arrives on the heels of Will Howard's departure to the NFL, giving the Buckeyes a new face under center. As a former top 10 recruit and five star transfer from Alabama, Sayin's pedigree is unquestiones, even if his in-game experince remains limited.

His first start, against top ranked Texas and their QB Arch Manning, represents a high-stakes debut that will test both his composure and execution in a howcase matchup.
